You’ve been cleared to exercise after having a baby. So…now what?

It can be tempting to think that once you’ve had your 6-week checkup, you can just head back to the workouts you were doing before pregnancy. But there’s a pretty big difference between being medically cleared to exercise and being ready to jump straight back into everything you used to do.

Your body has spent nine months adapting to pregnancy and then gone through birth. Your core, pelvic floor, breathing, strength and the way you manage pressure through movement can all be affected — whether you notice it or not.

That doesn’t mean you need months of gentle exercise, and it definitely doesn’t mean you should be afraid of lifting weights.

We actually want you lifting weights!

We just want to make sure we build things back up in a way that makes sense.

Our postpartum training focuses on rebuilding whole-body strength while paying attention to the things that matter during this stage: core and pelvic floor function, breathing and pressure management, how your body is moving and how it responds as we gradually add more load and more challenging exercises.

We also pay attention to symptoms. Leaking, heaviness or pressure, pain, or abdominal doming aren’t things we want you to simply push through because you’ve been told they’re normal after having a baby. They give us useful information about what your body is ready for and what we might need to work on.

And the end goal isn’t to keep you doing “postpartum exercises.”

It’s to get you back to regular activity.

To lifting heavier weights. Running, jumping or skiing if those are things you want to do. Carrying a growing baby, hauling around a car seat and doing all the other surprisingly physical things that come with being a parent.

These six-week sessions, led by a Certified Pre & Post Natal Coach and with input from experienced physiotherapists and pelvic floor specialists, women seven weeks or more postpartum will rebuild their strength safely and effectively.

Plus, you’ll be part of a supportive community of moms experiencing the same joys and challenges, which can can be vital for your mental health!
